Last but not least I’ve updated the Serviio Console package.

I’ve changed the icons a bit and made it working in an iframe again.

It is available at the community package hub repo.

Have fun with it, Eric.

After trying and filing one week to change the application.cfg into a “config” file with the same behavior I stayed with the application.cfg.
It is a DSM link type developed for DSM 2 (“config” is for DSM 3 and later) but still works with DSM 4.
I wasn’t able to create an embedded link to the web directory correctly using the config file,

What does this nerd-talk mean to me?
Nothing: net2ftp is up to date and waorks with DSM 4.2 like before ;)

I hope you like the new look, I made some fitting icons.
Have fun with it it is now available at the cphub repo

Another hobby

Hey guys,

I want to share another hobby with you, which is DJing. I’ve been doing this for almost 10 Years now.

So this is my latest recorded mix which is quite long and contains 25 nice deep and tech-house tracks. I think its a fresh thing that makes you move your bottom ;)
It was live mixed with two CDJ 400 a DJM 400 and Serato Scratch live.

Gigon – Ein Beat In A-Moll by Eric Gielians on Mixcloud

First of all Thanks for you responses to my Subsonic 4.8 package, I will try to work on it tomorrow.

I just read there is a presentation of the new DSM 4.3 in my hometown, Düsseldorf.

If you want to attend, you can register here.

Schönes Wochenende, have a nice weekend,

Eric

It was quite an interesting week. A new version of Subsonic came out as well as the new Developers Guide for DSM 4.2 which shows a lot of changes in creating and integrating new packages.

I am currently working on the new Subsonic 4.8 package. I will most likely upload the new version tomorrow.

maz informed me that there is a second version of ownCloud available. It is distributed by the French synocommunity.com and is as unofficial as my package ;) . I don’t know this package yet so I don’t recommend installing both owncloud packages at the same time. Also I can’t guarantee that changing from one to another package will work.

I will stay here at my balcony for another hour, listen to the beautiful new record of Andrew Bayer, enjoy the sun and finish to read the not very warm but quite dry Developers guide.

So all you beta heads, stay tuned tomorrow ;)

Eric

Hello ;)

Sorry for not being around here the last few weeks.

But: (In Jeremy Clarksons words) Good News! I have a day off tomorrow and will try to answer to all your questions, problems and hints and at least try to work on new fixes.

I hope you aren’t that angry but this blog is just a hobby and a year ago I didn’t thought it could become this big.

I hope all you Synos are running fine out there and you had a great Weekend.

Eric

I just wanted to thank everybody for your support and confidence in my work. Everyone who downloads a package from the package center motivates me to create new and better packages. Thanks to everyone who leaves comments, making this a community project. I will continue to provide packages as long as this blog is “alive”. My next step is to get an Atom powered Disk Station. Not only because my 4TB 211+ is nearly spilling over, but also to have both environments to test on.  Some statistics from my side:

  • more than 10.000 ownCloud downloads (via package center)
  • more than 4.200 Subsonic downloads (via package center)
  • more than 50.000 independent Visitors on this side since January (30.000 of them in the last 5 months)
  • about 250 independent Visitors each day

Keep on rocking…

First of all: I can’t give real support for this just because I just don’t have the time. I will try to update it as fast as I can, but it won’t be as quick as the Subsonic or ownCloud package.

So what is it all about?

Serviio is a pretty neat dlna streaming server written by Petr Nejedly (Zip). In February 2011 patters got it running on Synology Disk Stations (his packages taught me how to build my own). At first he didn’t include an interface in his package which wasn’t really a problem because there is a full access remote console available. Then he integrated the PHP web console whis is basically just a bunch of files. Then he began to include the full java-based console and even got it working in one jvm with the server application. Sadly but comprehensible he excluded the console from his packages since version 1.0 because it is just to much work to do for getting the same results you can have by installing the remote console.

But as I am operating my DS from a multitude of devices a build-in console is the simplest solution for me. So I was looking for an easy way to get a console running on my DS and found Marks (mpemberton5s) PHP Web Ui at the serviio Forum, ask him for a permission to puplish it and here it is. ;)

Sadly I can’t get it to work in an iframe window inside DSM (the icon is clickable but nothing happens. Bug?). Now it opens a new Tab, looks a bit stretched on my 16:9 screen, but works fine.

How do I use this?

First of all you have to install patters serviio package carefully and follow the first five steps in instructions. You don’t have to install serviio on your local computer, thats what this package is for.

To install the console package add http://update.10trum.de/packageupdate/getpackages.php to your 3rd party sources like the one you added from patters to install serviio.

After installing serviio and this serviio console read patters notes carefully!

Now you are good to go.

Screen shot:

I am on vacation till 4th of September, so I won’t upload any new packages before then. I hope ownCloud 5 and Subsonic 4.7 will be released until then so I can upload the new version as quickly as possible.

Happy Holidays to everyone, have fun and relax ;)

  • 2x Pioneer CDJ 400 -> Tabletop CD/USB Player und Midi Controller
  • 1x Pioneer DJM 400 -> 2 Kanal Mixer mit diversen digitalen Effekten und automatischer BPM Erkennung
  • 1x Serato Scratch Live SL1 -> DJ Software und Hardware vom feinsten (inkl. 2x schwarze Vinyl, unbenutzt! und 2x scratch/steuer CD)
  • 1x Akai LPD8 -> Midi Controller mit 8 Fadern und 8 anschlagdynamischen Buttons
  • Diverse Kabel: 5x Stereo Chinch<->Chinch, 1x XLR(F)<->Klinke, 1x Stereo Chinch<->XLR(M), 5x USB Kabel (für 2x CDJ, SL1, LPD8, Externe Platte)

Schreibt ne mail an eric-gigon [at] web [punkt] de
